Your blocks

While this is open, every block on the page carries its own bar: drag it by the handle to move it, set its width to a third, a half, two thirds or full, or remove it — removed blocks wait in the tray at the foot of the page. This list does the same with buttons, for when a drag is the wrong tool. The moment you change anything the layout becomes Custom — a preset is a starting point, not a cage.

These carry no licence: all rights reserved by their author, shared with one named cohort. They are absent from the index, the search, the topic counts and their author’s page — not hidden behind a lock, because the existence of a cohort is a fact about people.

Cohort sharing is turned off
No new paper can be shared with a cohort while this is off. The papers below were shared before it was turned off and stay with their cohorts — turning it off does not publish them. Only their author can do that, and it cannot be undone.

Publishing puts this under CC BY 4.0. Anyone may keep and republish this copy for ever, with attribution — including after you delete it here. A CC licence cannot be withdrawn.

This is a reading list in the order of the literature, not a chain of reasoning. Meldar can tell you that the Tur treats this passage and that the Tur is 14th century. It cannot tell you whether he codified it, narrowed it or disagreed — that is a relation, and a person has to read the two and say so. The chain at the top of this page is what that looks like once someone has.

Sefaria records that these texts touch. It does not record what one authority did to another’s ruling — that is a relation, and only a person can enter one. These are candidates to read, not a chain.

Nothing in Sefaria’s link data points here. That is a fact about their index, not about the passage.

Siddur builder

It has its own app now

Composing, setting and printing a siddur is a different job from learning in one — a different person, a different session, usually a different machine — and it was the heaviest thing in this app by a wide margin. Measured here on 20 August: opening this route mounted 21,254 extra nodes in 5,941 ms, paid for by everyone who came to read.

What moved and what did not

The builder is the same engine, not a rewrite — it loads the same three modules this app does (the siddur data, the interlinear engine, the package layer) and copies none of them. Your saved siddur is the same document in the same place, so it opens there exactly as it stood here.

Nothing was deleted: this route still exists, the readers the paper importer borrows from the builder are untouched, and the benschers and the printed-page path stay here.

It will not talk without a text in front of it. It cites what it says or refuses to say it. It asks before it answers — and when you would rather it just answered, that is one button away. It never rules on halacha: a question about what to do goes to a person before anything is generated.

The text is the hand-entered corpus the siddur builder already carries. By default, each institution sees only what you did with it — your other schools and programmes are invisible to it. Turning one public is the only way another institution can see that record on your profile. Your conversion decision is never here — that stays with your Beth Din.

Guardians & observers
{{ gvSummary }}

An observer — a parent, a mentor — can look in on your study at one institution and nothing else. They only read: they can never post, message, submit or grade, and they never see your other institutions. The institution decides what it will ever share; you decide what each observer actually sees, and you can revoke it in one tap. Your conversion, if you are converting anywhere, is never part of this.

Nobody is observing your study. Invite someone below if you'd like them to follow along at one of your institutions.

Certificates you've earned
{{ mcSummary }}

Each certificate is issued by the institution that taught you, in its name — never by Meldar. It records study: lessons completed, reviews done, a recitation attested. It is not a conversion certificate and says nothing about conversion — that decision rests only with your Beth Din. Publishing one adds it to your public profile; leaving it off keeps it yours alone.

No certificates yet. As you reach the milestones in your classes, the institution can issue one — and it will appear here for you to publish or keep private.

Where I study

Your learning is spread across a few places. None of them is your converting authority — the Beth Din decides.

Roster & Grading

Manage one class at a time — enrol & remove learners, assign lessons with due dates, and grade against a rubric. Everything is scoped to the institution you're viewing and to what your role manages. Prompt 1 · Data model & isolation
Seeded & resettable
Per-institution isolation

Every activity and grade row is stamped with the institution it belongs to. Staff reads go through historyFor(studentId, orgId) — a school never sees a yeshiva's or a Gyur program's data, and vice-versa. A learner opens cross-institution visibility only by publishing a specific institution on their profile.

Community daily-learning defaults

These seed the daily readings for every member. Individuals can still toggle their own. Parashat HaShavua, Daily Rambam and Daf Yomi are on by default; Pirkei Avot switches on automatically on Shabbatot between Pesaḥ and Rosh Hashanah. Data comes from Hebcal; every reading links to Sefaria.

How it works
Toggles here set what new members start with. Daily references are pulled live each day from Hebcal’s learning schedules, and each item deep-links to the matching text on Sefaria. Seasonal schedules (Pirkei Avot) appear only during their cycle.

Administration

Manage the whole institution graph — institutions, departments, classes and people — on the live classroom model. Every change writes through cAdd / cUpdate / cRemove and appears across the dashboard, isolation and interop immediately. Teaching structure only — the conversion decision stays on the Gyur path.

Permissions

Delegated management cascades admin → school-lead / director → department coordinator → teacher, each scoped to what they own via can(action, ctx). Delegation grants management within scope — never cross-institution visibility. Teaching ≠ deciding: nothing here touches the conversion decision (Beth Din, Gyur path). Switch the “Signed in as” role to see each scope bite.

Reuse audit

The classroom suite reuses the gyur & reader building blocks rather than duplicating them — one editor, one resource model, one reader, one report mechanic, one chart set, one notes/visibility model — while keeping authority separate. The whole map runs through one interopAdapter with fixed method names — exportRoster · exportGrades · exportActivity · importRoster … — whose default bodies write local files. Pointing a target at Clever, Google Classroom or FACTS swaps only the body; no caller changes. Isolation holds on export: an institution exports only its own scoped data; admin can export across institutions. Prompt 21 builds the per-domain export/import UI on this seam.

{{ n.t }}
{{ n.why }}
Sync is not a second code path: an envelope is built by the same pure builders as every export and delivered by the same interopAdapter target — syncPush · syncPull · syncStatus sit beside exportRoster · importRoster. Because a batch is grouped by orgId before it is built, one push carries exactly one institution; isolation is structural, not a promise. And no amount of queued teaching data adds up to a decision — that stays with the Beth Din.

The supervision dashboard holds the conversion dossier: the candidate cohort, their meetings, and the private role-notes of tutor, program, dayan and Av Beth Din.

Until now it was the one destination with no off switch — an institution could not decline to hold it. It is off by default.

Turn it on at Admin → Feature flags → Governance, where the institution can also see what it is agreeing to hold.

Codes stay inside this institution — attainment is only ever computed from its own rubric evidence, exactly like the rest of a learner's institution-scoped record.

{{ msDReqHint }} Requirements count study only — grades are never a requirement.
Certificates are issued by the institution, in its own name — Meldar never issues one. A certificate records study only: it is not a conversion certificate, and it is never evidence for a conversion decision. That decision belongs solely to a Beth Din.
No certificates issued for this class yet. They appear here once a milestone that carries one is reached and the institution issues it.

Beta. The reader can drag the rungs and add their own; nothing is written back to the chain, and it is labelled as the author's arrangement rather than as the literature's.
